Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. has recalled 39,000 John Deere mowers with Kawasaki engines due to fire and burn risks. The recall also affects 2,600 units sold in Canada. The mowers were sold at authorized John Deere dealers in the U.S. from October 2018 to September 2024 for $8,000 to $11,500. The voltage regulator in the engine can fail, causing overheating and posing hazards. Five fires and 26 melting/smoking incidents prompted the recall, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the mowers and contact a dealer for free repairs.

In related recalls, Kawasaki recalled 68,500 engines for lawn equipment in June, and Deere & Co. recalled 147,900 Compact Utility Tractors in September due to crash risks. About 16,800 units were sold in Canada as well.
