The Malaysia stock market declined on Monday, with the KLCI falling 1.05% to 1,585.59 points. Axiata, Gamuda, and YTL Corporation were among the companies that experienced losses. The global market forecast is uncertain, with oil companies providing support but technology shares showing weakness.
Wall Street had a mixed performance, with the Dow rising 0.86% while the NASDAQ fell 0.39%. Nvidia’s stock dropped by 4.7%. Concerns about interest rates persisted after a strong jobs report on Friday.
Oil prices surged to a five-month high of $78.82 a barrel on Monday due to U.S. sanctions on Russia’s oil exports. The stronger dollar offset some of the gains.
