Netflix raises prices on standard, ad-supported plans

Netflix is increasing the price of its U.S. plans, with the standard plan going from $15.49 to $17.99, the ad-supported plan from $6.99 to $7.99, and the premium plan from $22.99 to $24.99. The company is also raising prices in Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.
To reach profitability, streaming services like Netflix, Disney, and Warner Bros. Discovery have raised prices and introduced ad-supported plans. Netflix added a cheaper, ad-supported plan in response to slowing subscriber growth, reaching 70 million global monthly users in November 2024.
Netflix is cracking down on password sharing, offering subscribers the option to add “extra members” to their accounts for an additional cost. The company reported adding a record 19 million paid memberships during the fourth quarter, surpassing 300 million subscribers.
