Nokia has been chosen by TenneT to provide optical networking technology for eight new 2-gigawatt platforms in the Dutch North Sea to deliver renewable energy to land. This program marks a shift towards green energy in Europe. The optical network will support long-distance transmission, connecting offshore platforms to onshore infrastructure, enabling remote operation and management. Nokia’s technology will be deployed in early 2025, aligning with the construction of the platforms, with full operational readiness expected by 2029. This partnership aims to increase renewable energy deployment and support climate neutrality targets.
