Renault’s Dacia brand lowered the price of its electric vehicle in France by 2,000 euros to boost stagnant EV sales in Europe. Car makers are expected to offer discounts to meet new emissions rules. Only 13% of vehicles sold in Europe in 2024 were electric, falling short of the target. Dacia’s electric Spring model is now priced at 16,900 euros. China’s Leapmotor is still the cheapest EV in the region at 14,900 euros. The new Spring model has a less powerful engine but the same driving range as the more expensive version. Discounts on the Spring have also been implemented in other European markets. ($1 = 0.9588 euros)
