Sensex, Nifty Edge Lower In Early Trade

Indian shares opened lower on Friday after three consecutive sessions of gains. The benchmark BSE Sensex dropped 333 points to 76,709, while the NSE Nifty index was down 73 points at 23,238. Reliance Industries surged 2.5% with record quarterly profit, but Infosys fell 5% despite strong financials. Axis Bank plummeted 4.4% due to a modest rise in December quarter profits, while LTIMindtree dropped 3% on a decline in net profit. Spencer’s Retail gained 3.2% after reducing its quarterly net loss, and Sun Pharmaceutical rose 1.2% following a subsidiary’s agreement to acquire Antibe Therapeutics.
