Sensex, Nifty Open Lower On Weak Global Cues

Indian shares were subdued on Thursday, with the benchmark S&P/BSE Sensex down 0.3% at 77,939 and the NSE Nifty dropping 0.3% to 23,621. Larsen & Toubro, ONGC, Trent, UltraTech Cement, and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise were among the decliners, falling 1-2%. Tata Motors fell over 1% following a nuanced performance by subsidiary JLR. NTPC Green Energy declined 2% as it formed a new joint venture, while Zee Media tumbled 3% on fund raising reports. Among gainers, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Hindustan Unilever rose about 2%, while Manappuram Finance soared 4.2% after RBI lifted restrictions on its microlending arm. Hindalco gained 1% after subsidiary Novelis announced a $500-million senior unsecured notes offering, and TCS rose ahead of its earnings announcement.
