Tesla reported its fourth-quarter vehicle production and deliveries. The key numbers are: Total deliveries Q4 2024: 495,570, Total production Q4 2024: 459,445, Total annual deliveries 2024: 1,789,226, Total annual production 2024: 1,773,443. The stock fell by 7% in trading. Analysts had expected deliveries of 504,770 in the quarter, including 474,000 Model 3 and Model Y EVs.

Tesla’s fourth-quarter results marked the first annual drop in delivery numbers, with a total of 1.81 million deliveries in 2023. The biggest story was Elon Musk’s involvement in Donald Trump’s campaign. Musk poured millions to promote Trump and is now co-leading an advisory group to slash federal spending.

Tesla faces increased competition from automakers like General Motors, Ford, Rivian, BYD, BMW, and Volkswagen. Despite challenges, Tesla remains dominant in North America. Moving forward, Musk expects to offer lower-cost and autonomous vehicles in 2025, aiming for 20-30% growth over 2024. Cybertruck assembly line workers were sent home to avoid oversupplying the market.
