TSMC is confident it will continue to receive U.S. government funding under President Trump, with $1.5 billion received so far out of $6.6 billion promised by the Biden administration. The CHIPS Act, with bipartisan support, commits over $50 billion to support the domestic chip industry.

TSMC’s first fabrication plant in Arizona began producing advanced chips in Q4 2024, with the second plant set to be completed by 2028. The company’s role in the global chip supply chain, manufacturing advanced chips for companies like NVIDIA, has become more crucial with the rise of AI development.

President Trump, who criticized the CHIPS Act’s high cost, is expected to leave the act unchanged due to bipartisan support. Other chipmakers like Intel and Samsung also received funding under the CHIPS act to support domestic chip production.
