U.S. stocks close lower with Dow down 0.34%, led by tech and healthcare sectors

U.S. stocks closed lower on Thursday, with sectors like technology and healthcare leading the decline. The Dow Jones fell by 0.34%, the S&P 500 by 0.20%, and the Nasdaq by 0.16%. Top performers included NVIDIA and Chevron, while Boeing and Nike were among the worst performers.
On the S&P 500, Vistra Energy Corp, Constellation Energy Corp, and First Solar Inc were the top performers, while Tesla Inc, General Motors Company, and PPG Industries Inc were the worst performers.
NASDAQ Composite saw N2OFF Inc, Electra Battery Materials Corp, and C3is Inc as top performers, with Neumora Therapeutics Inc, Mars Acquisition Corp, and Shineco Inc as the worst performers.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE and Nasdaq Stock Exchange. PPG Industries Inc hit 52-week lows, while Neumora Therapeutics Inc and Mars Acquisition Corp hit all-time lows.
The VIX, which measures S&P 500 options’ implied volatility, was up 3.34% to 17.93.
Gold Futures for February delivery rose by 1.14% to $2,671.07 per troy ounce. Crude oil for February delivery rose to $73.14 a barrel, and Brent oil for March rose to $75.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD fell by 0.84% to 1.03, while USD/JPY rose by 0.20% to 157.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.73% at 109.09.
