Visa (NYSE:V) exceeded expectations in the first quarter with earnings per share of $2.75 and revenue of $9.51 billion. Payment volume rose 9% and transactions increased by 11%. The company attributes this growth to a strong U.S. labor market and consumer spending resilience. Visa’s stock surged 2% in pre-market trading.
Visa’s CFO, Chris Suh, highlighted the company’s strong performance during the holiday shopping season, with spending growth surpassing last year’s figures. Looking forward, Visa projects high single-digit to low double-digit net revenue growth for the second quarter and low-double digit growth for the full year. Earnings per share are expected to rise in the low-teens percentage range for the year.
