US active managers favor semiconductor stocks like NVDA, Broadcom, AMAT, AMD, and Qualcomm.

According to Bank of America, active fund managers in the US are still favoring semiconductor stocks, with notable shifts in ownership and weighting. NVDA remains widely owned, with 72% of managers holding the stock, while Broadcom saw a significant rise in ownership. Other popular semiconductor stocks include AMAT, AMD, and Qualcomm.

Despite NVDA’s impressive growth prospects, its relative weighting in portfolios remains slightly below the average for top tech and communication services peers. Broadcom is one of the most overweighted semiconductor stocks, with a relative weighting of 1.45x. AMAT and AMD also maintain significant relative weightings.

Differences in preference between long-only investors and hedge funds were highlighted in the report. LO investors were more overweight in Monolithic Power Systems, Texas Instruments, and AMAT, while HFs showed higher weightings in Qorvo, Lam Research, and Cadence Design Systems.
