AutoNation (NYSE:AN) beat analyst expectations in Q4 2024 with adjusted earnings per share of $4.97, surpassing the consensus estimate of $4.24. Revenue reached $7.21 billion, an 8% year-over-year increase on a same-store basis, exceeding Wall Street forecasts of $6.67 billion.

New vehicle sales were a key driver of growth, with same-store unit sales up 12%. Used vehicle gross profit rose 14%, showing strength in the pre-owned segment. After-Sales and Customer Financial Services reported 5% and 6% same-store gross profit growth, respectively.

AutoNation repurchased 0.6 million shares for $104 million in Q4, part of a strategy that saw 2.9 million shares bought back in 2024, reducing outstanding shares by 7% and investing $460 million in buybacks. Despite the strong performance, shares dropped over 3% intra-day.
