During the AWS re:Invent conference, Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Matt Garman announced that revenue growth for the cloud-computing business slowed to just under 19% year over year in Q4, falling slightly below analysts’ estimates. AWS generated $28.79 billion in revenue, missing expectations of $28.84 billion. The division remains the top cloud infrastructure provider, supplying 15% of Amazon’s total revenue and over half of its profit.

AWS operating income reached $10.63 billion, a 48% increase from the previous year, surpassing StreetAccount’s consensus of $10.45 billion. Matt Garman revealed that Apple has utilized Amazon’s custom chips for AI models and experimented with next-generation AI training processors. Additionally, AWS introduced a “Buy with AWS” button for software companies to simplify purchasing on their websites.

Microsoft and Google, AWS’s closest competitors, also fell short of cloud revenue expectations in Q4. AWS maintains its lead in the cloud infrastructure market and continues to innovate with custom chips and purchasing solutions for software companies.
