Coinbase Q4 Earnings Beat Estimates on Higher Trading Volume

Coinbase Global, Inc. reported Q4 2024 net operating earnings per share of $3.39, beating estimates by 74.7%. Total Trading Volume more than doubled to $439 million, with revenues of $2.3 billion, a 21.3% beat. For Q1 2025, the company expects subscription and services revenues to grow, with operational expenses also increasing.
Financially, Coinbase ended Q4 with $8.5 billion in cash, a 66.2% increase from the previous year. Long-term debt rose 42% to $4.2 billion. Shareholders’ equity grew to $10.3 billion. The company projects sales and marketing expenses to increase to $235-$375 million for the upcoming quarter.
In comparison, Bread Financial Holdings’ Q4 operating income of 41 cents per share beat estimates. Virtu Financial, Inc. reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.14, exceeding expectations by 32.6%. American Express Company saw earnings per share of $3.04, with total revenues reaching $17.2 billion. Network volumes rose to $464 billion, driven by higher consumer spending.
