FTSE 100 Up Marginally; Standard Chartered Rises On Results

U.K. stocks are mostly subdued Friday morning, with the FTSE 100 up 0.15% at 8,676.17. Standard Chartered reports its biggest earnings in a decade, with a net profit of $4.28 billion and EPS of $1.41, leading to a 4.5% gain. UK retail sales grew 1.7% in January, the fastest in eight months, driven by food store sales. Consumer sentiment in Britain rose moderately in February, with the index gaining two points to -20. GSK, Endeavour Mining, Fresnillo, and Mondi are down 1.5 to 1.7%, while Centrica, Diageo, Sainsbury, and others are up 1.7 to 4.5%.
