Helmerich & Payne beats earnings estimates but misses revenue, future outlook positive

Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (HP) reported a fiscal first-quarter 2025 adjusted net income of 71 cents per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 69 cents. However, this was lower than the year-ago quarter’s reported figure of 97 cents due to weakness in the International Solutions segment. Operating revenues of $677.3 million missed expectations.
The company declared a quarterly cash dividend of 25 cents per share for common shareholders, with expectations of continued cash flow from the North America Solutions segment in fiscal year 2025. Helmerich & Payne’s financial position includes $391.2 million in cash, $1.8 billion in long-term debt, and a debt-to-capitalization ratio of 37.7%. The company forecasts a range of operating gross margins for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025 and expects to end the quarter with a certain number of contracted rigs. Capital outlay for the year is estimated, with plans to offset expenditures through asset sales.
Other energy companies like Liberty Energy and Baker Hughes also reported their earnings, with Liberty Energy beating estimates and Baker Hughes showing strong performance.
