KOSPI May Run Out Of Steam On Monday

The South Korea stock market has been on the rise for four consecutive sessions, gaining 2.7 percent. The KOSPI closed above 2,590 points but may see profit-taking on Monday. Global markets are expected to be flat to lower, with energy stocks leading the decline.

On Friday, the KOSPI closed higher, driven by tech stocks. Trading volume was 491.98 million shares worth 13.67 trillion won. Key actives included Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Wall Street had a mixed close on Friday, with the NASDAQ gaining 0.41 percent. Oil prices fell as supply concerns eased. South Korea will release January trade figures today.

In December, South Korea reported a trade deficit of $1.89 billion, with imports down 6.4 percent and exports down 10.3 percent.
