The US SEC extends deadline for decision on Cboe Exchange listing of Ether ETF options until May. Cboe initially requested to list options on the Fidelity Ethereum Fund, which has $1.3 billion in net assets. The SEC also intends to decide by April on options tied to BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust, the largest ETH ETF with over $3.7 billion in net assets.
Investment managers anticipate that the expansion of cryptocurrency ETF options in the US will accelerate institutional adoption and provide significant upside for investors. Options on spot Bitcoin ETFs began trading in November, with almost $2 billion in total exposure on the first day of listing. President Trump aims to establish the US as the “world’s crypto capital,” appointing crypto-friendly leaders to financial regulators.
Coinbase launches Solana futures contracts, representing an agreement to buy or sell the asset at a future date. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group plans to launch SOL futures contracts on March 17, pending regulatory approval. This move is part of a broader trend towards the introduction of crypto derivatives in the market.
