Sensex, Nifty Decline On Trade War Fears

Indian shares opened lower as fears of a global trade war intensified with President Trump’s announcement of 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The S&P/BSE Sensex dropped 390 points and the NSE Nifty index fell 130 points. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, JSW Steel, Power Grid Corp, Cipla, and Tata Steel declined, while Bharti Airtel and Britannia Industries saw gains. Oil India’s Q3 net profit fell over 23%, causing a 3% tumble. BHEL climbed 1.5% after securing an Rs 8,000 crore contract. Eicher motors and Nykaa rose ahead of earnings, while Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 21% increase in Q3 profit.
