Southwest Airlines plans to cut 1,750 corporate positions, including senior leadership roles, which is approximately 15% of its corporate workforce. Layoffs will start in late April, with affected employees receiving salary, benefits, and bonuses until then. The company expects to save $210 million in 2025 and $300 million in 2026 due to the restructuring. However, they anticipate a one-time charge of $60-80 million for severance payments and benefits. Additional cost-saving actions may be implemented throughout 2025.
