Thai Stock Market May Open Under Pressure On Monday

The Thai stock market closed lower on Friday after a two-day winning streak, with the Stock Exchange of Thailand sitting just above the 1,270-point mark. The global forecast for Asian markets is flat to lower, with energy stocks expected to lead the decline. The SET index fell 0.94 percent to finish at 1,272.10, with losses in financial, property, service, and technology sectors offset by gains in food, consumer, industrial, and resource companies.
In the US, major averages opened higher on Friday but closed mixed and little changed. The Dow dropped 0.37 percent, the NASDAQ added 0.41 percent, and the S&P 500 dipped 0.01 percent. Oil prices fell on Friday amid easing supply concerns and hopes for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. West Texas Intermediate Crude oil futures ended at $70.74 a barrel, gaining 1.0 percent for the week.
Thailand is set to release Q4 gross domestic product figures later today, with expectations of a 0.7 percent rise on quarter and 3.9 percent increase on year. The previous quarter saw a 1.2 percent growth on quarter and 3.0 percent rise on year.
