The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (AICPA and CIMA) honoured 177 accounting and finance professionals in Sri Lanka with ACMA and FCMA certificates, along with the CGMA designation at an awards ceremony. Additionally, 192 candidates who completed their CGMA exams were recognized.

AICPA and CIMA Sri Lanka acting country manager, Tharindu Wijewardana, expressed gratitude to CIMA President and Association Chair, Simon Bittlestone, for welcoming the new CGMA designation holders and celebrating the achievements of the exam-complete CGMA candidates. Bittlestone emphasized that these professionals would play a crucial role in shaping the future of their organizations.

The ceremony followed research by AICPA and CIMA on the impact of EU regulations on climate risk management and disclosure. The study found that EU-based companies are more likely to identify climate risk as a top concern compared to global counterparts. The global survey involved 436 board members, C-suite executives, and risk managers from various universities.

The event was covered by The Accountant, a GlobalData owned brand, and highlighted the significant recognition of accounting and finance professionals in Sri Lanka. The ceremony and research findings underscore the importance of expertise in addressing climate risk and shaping the future of organizations.
