Asian stocks fell due to tariff uncertainty, U.S. signals, and weakening dollar

Asian stocks fell on Friday due to geopolitical uncertainty and conflicting signals from the U.S. Gold rose as the dollar weakened before U.S. employment data. Oil saw its biggest weekly drop since October. Chinese shares ended lower as exports grew slower and imports declined sharply. China’s exports grew 2.3% annually in Jan-Feb, while imports fell 8.4%. Japan’s Nikkei dropped 2.17% to a six-month low, while Seoul’s Kospi fell 0.49%. Australian markets closed sharply lower with banking stocks leading the losses. In the U.S., stocks tumbled, with the Nasdaq entering correction territory. The U.S. trade deficit widened in January.
