Associated Wholesale Grocers reported consolidated sales of $12.1 billion, down 2.4% from last year, but net sales were up 2.41% at $11.5 billion. Profits and patronage dividends were up, with net income totaling $295.25 million, a 2.7% increase from fiscal 2023.
The company attributed its performance to strategic initiatives, including integrating Valu Merchandisers Company departments. The All-in-One Distribution Hub in Mississippi now handles various products, with plans to expand across multiple temperature zones and attract non-traditional customers.
Associated Wholesale Grocers aims to expand in organic fruits, Hispanic produce, meat, seafood, deli, bakery, and foodservice categories. Plans include increasing produce sales by 3%-5% yearly, focusing on key areas in meat and seafood, and creating a private brand line for deli and foodservice products.
AWG distributed a record $286.2 million in year-end patronage, totaling $642.1 million in cooperative benefits. Despite challenges like decreased pharmacy sales and supply chain disruptions, the company delivered exceptional results for its members.
