BBVA approved to offer Bitcoin and Ether trading in Spain. Users can buy, sell, manage assets through mobile app. Rollout limited to select users initially. BBVA started crypto services in Switzerland in 2021, expanded to Ether and USDC. Turkey’s Garanti BBVA Kripto launched trading services. BBVA broadens services in line with EU regulations.

Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) fully implemented. EU crypto firms have until July 2026 to comply. Traditional finance firms scramble for MiCA licenses. Hidden Road, Standard Chartered, Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody secure MiCA licenses. OKX, Crypto.com, HashKey also approved. Bybit aims for MiCA license post-hack removal from France’s blacklist.
