Brazilian meatpacker JBS S/A invests $100 million in two new plants in Vietnam for beef, pork, and poultry, following President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s announcement of Vietnamese meat purchases. The plants will be JBS’s first food processing units in Vietnam, targeting the local and Southeast Asian markets, creating 500 new jobs.
The new factories will primarily use raw materials imported from Brazil, with a focus on the Vietnamese market and neighboring Southeast Asian countries. JBS aims for “investment with a purpose,” emphasizing job creation and economic development in the region. Plans include a logistics center and processing facilities in northern and southern Vietnam, with no set start date.
