China’s largest container shipping line, Cosco Shipping Holdings, reported a significant increase in revenue and profits in 2024. Operating revenue reached $33.29 billion, a 33.29% rise from the previous year. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) surged by 90.74% to $9.79 billion, with net profit rising by 95% to $7.75 billion.

Major shipping lines in 2024 experienced revenue and profit growth due to durable U.S. consumer demand and the Red Sea crisis. However, Cosco faces challenges in the U.S. like trade tariffs and proposed port fees on Chinese ships. The company is part of the Ocean Alliance with Orient Overseas Container Line, CMA CGM, and Evergreen Marine.
