Darden Restaurants reported weaker sales as Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse fell short of expectations, causing shares to drop 1% in premarket trading. Earnings per share were $2.80 adjusted, beating expectations of $2.79, while revenue was $3.16 billion, missing the $3.21 billion estimate. Net sales rose 6.2% to $3.16 billion. Same-store sales for Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse were below expectations. Olive Garden’s same-store sales rose 0.6%, falling short of the anticipated 1.5%, while LongHorn Steakhouse saw a 2.6% increase, missing the 5% growth forecasted by analysts. Fine-dining segment, including The Capital Grille and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, reported a same-store sales decline of 0.8%. The segment including Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen and Yard House saw a 0.4% same-store sales drop. Darden reiterated its full-year revenue forecast of $12.1 billion and adjusted earnings range of $9.45 to $9.52 per share. The fiscal 2025 outlook includes Chuy’s results, but same-store sales metrics won’t include the Tex-Mex chain until the fiscal fourth quarter in 2026.
