DHL Group acquires CryoPDP for $195 million, expanding its pharmaceutical and life science logistics capabilities. CryoPDP handles over 600,000 shipments annually for customers in 135 countries. The health care logistics market is estimated to reach $152 billion in 2023, driven by an aging global population in need of medical products.
The acquisition aligns with DHL’s goal to become a major player in health care logistics by 2030. CryoPDP will benefit from DHL’s global parcel network and airfreight capabilities for expedited deliveries. The deal is expected to close in the second or third quarter, pending regulatory approvals.
UPS and FedEx are also investing heavily in health care logistics. UPS aims to double revenue in the sector to $20 billion by 2026 through organic growth and acquisitions. FedEx generates $9 billion in annual health care revenue, enhancing its technological capabilities for tracking temperature-sensitive shipments.
