In the second look at Q4, the economy grew at a 2.3% annualized pace, the same as the 1st estimate but below the historical average of 3.2%. Real GDP is now 2.5% higher over the last 12 months. Consumer spending remained strong, but business investments and inventories dragged growth down. In January, personal incomes rose 0.9%, exceeding expectations, while consumer spending decreased by -0.2%, the worst month since February 2021. Q1 GDP estimates were lowered due to a decline in net exports. March and April historically have strong market returns, despite Q1 typically being the weakest quarter.
