Ethereum developers face pressure with the delayed deployment of the Pectra upgrade due to unexpected issues on testnets. The upgrade failed to finalize on the Holesky testnet and encountered errors on the Sepolia testnet. A new testnet called “Hoodi” was created to better prepare for the upgrade, set to launch on March 26. If successful, Pectra may hit the mainnet by April 25.

Ethereum developers express exhaustion from the challenges faced during Pectra preparations. The Holesky testnet encountered issues due to a small validator set on the canonical chain, causing RAM and memory overload. Despite setbacks, Ethereum’s broader development progresses with the successful rollout of the Dencun upgrade, resulting in a 95% drop in gas fees. Average gas prices reached historic lows on March 23 at 0.28 gwei.
