France’s state-owned bank, Bpifrance, plans to spend 25 million euros on cryptocurrencies to support local blockchain projects. The move is backed by the French Ministry of Economy and Finance and aims to strengthen the French blockchain ecosystem. Bpifrance has already invested over 150 million euros in the sector, including funding for Ledger.
Bpifrance will focus on projects with a strong French presence, receiving tokens in return for its investment. The bank aims to support decentralized finance, staking, tokenization, and artificial intelligence. The French government believes that public and private financing is essential for the country’s international competitiveness in the blockchain space.
Venture capital deals in the crypto space are expected to exceed $18 billion this year, up from $13.6 billion in 2024. Token investments are common in the industry, with lockup periods to prevent immediate selling. Token supply allocation strategies can impact liquidity and token values in the market.
