Europe is set to increase LNG regasification capacity by over 20% globally by 2030, aiming to reduce reliance on Russian gas, enhance energy security, transition to a lower-carbon economy, and meet rising demand.
Germany will lead European LNG regasification capacity additions by 2030, accounting for over 25% of total additions. Terminals like Wilhelmshaven, Stade, and Brunsbuttel will play vital roles.
Wilhelmshaven terminal in Germany plans to add 529.5bcf capacity by 2028, operated by Tree Energy Solutions, to reduce reliance on Russian gas and enhance energy security.
The UK also plans significant regasification capacity additions by 2030, with Isle of Grain leading the way, expanding to meet 33% of the UK’s gas demand and enhance energy security.
