Google's Gemini AI tool can remove watermarks from images, but has controversial features

Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash model now allows users to create and edit images, but social media users found it can also remove watermarks from popular providers like Getty Images. The tool is effective at erasing complex watermarks and replaces them with a ‘SynthID mark’ to indicate AI editing.
Gemini 2.0 Flash has a controversial feature of inserting recognizable images of real people, unlike the full Gemini model. However, the tool is labeled as “experimental” and not suited for production use. It is accessible through Google’s developer tools and has limitations in removing certain types of watermarks.
