HDI Global insurance revenue up 10% in 2024

HDI Global, part of the Talanx Group, saw a 10% increase in insurance revenue in 2024, reaching €10bn. The company’s net income contribution to Talanx Group also rose to €501m, up from €351m in 2023. Talanx Group reported a 25% surge in net income to €1.9bn for the year.

Operating profit for HDI Global in 2024 reached €702m, compared to €446m in the previous year. Return on equity also increased to 17.6%, up by 3.3 percentage points. The company attributed its financial success to expanding new business and adjusting prices for inflation on existing contracts.

HDI Global reported a combined ratio of 90% in 2024, an improvement from 91.5% in 2023. The insurer’s insurance service result reached €1bn, supported by a better loss ratio for frequency losses. Large loss payments increased to €402m, but stayed below projected figures due to reduced man-made losses.

Despite exceeding the budget for natural catastrophe losses, HDI Global saw improvements in its insurance financial and investment result before currency effects. CEO Edgar Puls highlighted the company’s financial strength, aiming to be a reliable partner for clients and brokers. The company’s full-year results showcased profitability in all regions.

Looking ahead to 2025, HDI Global Asia-Pacific plans to focus on expanding in the Mid-Market space, aiming for substantial growth opportunities. Stefan Feldmann, head of HDI Global Asia-Pacific, noted the company’s unique approach to this segment and the interest from broker partners in collaborating.
