India’s Gujarat State Petronet has completed a $75.5m natural gas pipeline linking the Chhara LNG terminal to the gas grid near the Gir National Park. The pipeline has a capacity of 18 million cubic meters per day, supporting India’s energy mix goals and enhancing natural gas availability.
The newly established Chhara LNG terminal, operated by HPCL LNG, imports LNG which is regasified and distributed through the pipeline to customers like power plants and fertilizer units. The 36-inch dia pipeline was constructed by Ace Pipeline Contracts using advanced techniques like automatic welding to expedite the project.
In a move to attract investment and boost oil and gas exploration, India passed the Oilfield (Regulatory and Development) Amendment Bill 2024. The bill, approved by the Rajya Sabha, aims to support the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, addressing market conditions and industry needs for growth.
