Kreilkamp Trucking Inc. has acquired the assets of Waterloo, Iowa-based Gray Transportation, which is closing after over 40 years. CEO Tim Kreilkamp states that some Gray drivers will join Kreilkamp, and the deal includes trailers and freight contracts. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Kreilkamp Trucking, a family-owned business in Allenton, Wisconsin, services the Midwest to the Eastern Seaboard. With origins dating back to 1935, they specialize in hauling refrigerated meats, cheese, spirits, agricultural supplies, and more. The company now runs about 300 trucks and represents the fourth generation of family management.
In addition to acquiring Gray Transportation’s assets, Kreilkamp Trucking also owns Brent Redmond Transportation in Hollister, California, providing services throughout the Southwestern U.S. The company also owns WB Warehousing & Logistics, Farmer’s Implement Inc., and Farmer’s Grain & Feed, expanding its reach in the transportation and logistics industry.
Gray Transportation, founded in 1984 by Leroy Gray, had grown to a fleet of over 150 trucks, 500 trailers, and 100 drivers, with John Deere as a main freight account. President Darrin Gray cited low freight rates and lease increases from Ryder as reasons for the company’s closure. Gray will work with Kreilkamp to help his Midwest-based drivers find new opportunities.
