A new cryptojacking malware called MassJacker is targeting piracy users, hijacking crypto transactions by replacing addresses. CyberArk reported 778,531 unique wallets linked to theft, with $336,700 stolen as of August. One wallet held over 600 Solana (SOL) worth $87,000, with NFTs like Gorilla Reborn and Susanoo. The malware originated from pesktop[dot]com.

Crypto malware is not new, with attackers targeting devices on various operating systems. Kaspersky Labs found crypto malware in Android and iOS app-making kits, while Checkmarx discovered malware in a Python Package Index. Other malware has targeted macOS devices. Attackers are using new methods like fake job scams to install malware.

Attackers are using the “clipper” attack method to alter cryptocurrency addresses copied to a clipboard. This method is discreet and often goes undetected in sandbox environments, giving attackers an advantage. CyberArk warns that this type of attack, while less well-known than others, can be highly effective in stealing crypto assets.
