The U.S. Army has awarded a $4.2 billion, 10-year contract to build blimps for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) to 10 companies, including Leidos and RTX Corp. Aerostats like JLENS can detect and track various targets, making them valuable for military use. The Army may also use them for border surveillance and fulfill a $1.2 billion order from Poland.
RTX Corp, a key player in the aerostat industry, stands to earn a significant profit from the Army contract. While other companies are also vying for the contract, RTX’s experience and capabilities make it a likely winner. The potential profit for RTX could be around $400 million over the course of the contract, boosting its already substantial revenue.
Investors considering RTX should note that Stock Advisor’s top 10 stock picks do not currently include RTX. However, historical returns from Stock Advisor have been impressive, outperforming the S&P 500 significantly. While the Army contract could benefit RTX financially, it may not be a game-changer for the company. Investors should weigh all factors before making investment decisions.
