Shell is discontinuing solar and onshore wind projects in Brazil due to oversupply, slow demand growth, and regulatory uncertainties. The decision aligns with a broader strategy to reduce expenditure on low-carbon ventures. Shell will maintain a presence in Brazil’s renewable sector through Prime Energy, focusing on smaller solar assets. In related news, Shell Energy North America acquired a 609MW gas turbine power plant in Rhode Island.
