Federal Reserve officials predict only two interest rate cuts this year, based on their median forecast. However, the range of forecasts in the Fed’s rate projections reflects uncertainty in inflation and the economy. The SEP revealed that nine Fed participants expect the federal-funds rate to be 3.75% to 4% by the end of 2025, hinting at two quarter-point cuts in 2022.
