Toyota global vehicle sales rise 9.5% in February

Toyota Motor Corporation saw a 9.5% increase in global group sales in February 2025, reaching 825,217 vehicles. Sales in Japan rose by 52% to 177,968 units, while overseas sales went up by nearly 2% to 647,249 units. Last year’s production stoppages at Daihatsu impacted sales in Japan.
In the first two months of 2025, Toyota’s global sales rose by 5.5% to 1,671,961 units. Japan saw a surge of over 38% to 348,397 units, while overseas sales slightly decreased to 1,323,564 units.
Toyota and Lexus together sold 1,547,349 units globally year-to-date, with Japan sales up by 20% to 259,821 units. North America saw a 4% decrease, while Latin America and Europe experienced increases. Asia sales outside Japan dropped by 1%.
Sales of electrified vehicles by Toyota and Lexus increased by 21% to 755,806 units in the first two months of 2025, comprising almost 49% of total sales. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) rose by 37%, mostly delivered overseas, while hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) amounted to 735,771 units.
Daihatsu’s global sales rebounded by 71% to 106,310 units year-to-date, with Japan sales surging by 173% to 82,423 units. However, overseas sales dropped by 25% to 23,887 units.
Hino Motors, Toyota’s commercial vehicle unit, reported a 1.4% decrease in global sales to 18,302 units in the same period. Japan sales increased by 10% to 6,153 units, but overseas sales fell by 6% to 12,149 units.
