Toyota Motor reported a 6% increase in global production in February, driven by higher output and sales in Japan. Domestic production rose 16%, while other countries saw less than 1% growth. Despite a 1% drop in North American production and shipments to the U.S., global revenue grew 6%.
U.S. President Trump’s 25% tariff on imported cars and light trucks, set to take effect on April 3, has created global uncertainty. Investors fear supply chain disruptions, reduced investment, and inflation risks. In North America, Toyota’s sales fell 7%, attributed to fewer operating days and inventory shortages, despite strong demand.
The production and sales figures include Toyota’s luxury Lexus brand. Trump’s trade policies have raised concerns about the potential impact on global economic growth.
