The Canadian market closed flat as investors took a cautious approach amidst Trump’s tariffs on imported vehicles and threats of more tariffs on the EU and Canada. The S&P/TSX Composite Index settled at 25,161.06, with healthcare, materials, and communications shares performing well. Tilray saw a 7.5% increase, while Magna International and Lightspeed Commerce were among the major losers. Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees in Canada rose by 5.5% year-on-year to $1,294.26 in January 2025, according to Statistics Canada data.
