UK CPI inflation fell to 2.8% in February 2025, with decreases in core CPI and housing

The UK Consumer Prices Index (CPI) annual inflation rate dipped to 2.8% in February 2025 from 3% in January. The core CPI rate, excluding certain items, also decreased to 3.5% from 3.7%. Clothing and footwear saw an annual inflation decrease of 0.6%, with monthly deflation of 0.3%. Housing and household services inflation dropped to 5.3% from 5.6% in January. Retail prices deflation remained stable at 0.7% annually. Despite continued cost pressures, food inflation remained unchanged. Dairy products like milk and cheese saw price drops, but heavy discounting in clothing and footwear continued.
