First criminal sentence handed down in UK for illegal crypto ATMs, operator sentenced to four years

An illegal crypto ATM operator in the UK has been sentenced to four years in prison for operating them without regulatory permission, processing 2.6 million British pounds ($3.14 million). He pleaded guilty to five charges and was also sentenced for forgery and possessing criminal property obtained from running the illicit ATMs. The FCA and local police agencies conducted a blitz to remove illegal crypto ATMs across the country, resulting in the removal of 30 machines and a warning to people that crypto remains high risk in the UK.
