An Ethereum developer reports that the Pectra upgrade on the Sepolia testnet encountered errors after an attacker exploited an edge case, causing empty blocks to be mined. The issue stemmed from a deposit contract triggering the wrong event, leading to the need for a fix. The Pectra upgrade was previously tested on the Holesky testnet, which also faced issues. Due to these problems, developers have postponed the Pectra upgrade until further testing can be conducted. The upgrade follows the Dencun fork, which reduced transaction fees for layer-2 networks and improved Ethereum rollup economics. The Ethereum Foundation recently announced a new leadership structure.
