Who is William Chisholm, leader of group that agreed to buy the Celtics for $6.1B?

An investor group led by William Chisholm agreed to buy the Boston Celtics for a record $6.1 billion pending NBA approval. Chisholm, 56, is a Boston native and lifelong Celtics fan who understands the team’s importance to the community. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an MBA from The Wharton School.

Chisholm co-founded Symphony Technology Group, specializing in tech investing. The company has raised nearly $10 billion and completed over 100 investments. STG acquired McAfee Enterprise and FireEye to create cybersecurity company Trellix and purchased Survey Monkey-parent Momentive. Chisholm has previous experience at Bain & Co., PaineWebber, and The Valent Group.

Chisholm and his wife Kimberly have three children. While STG is based in the Bay Area, he plans to buy a house in Boston.
