S&P 500 corrections present buying opportunities despite US national debt surpassing defense spending

In the past 7 days, US national debt has surpassed defense spending, hitting a record $1,178 billion in interest charges over the last year. Conversely, data from Goldman Sachs shows that S&P 500 corrections often present buying opportunities, with 21 corrections of 10% since 1980. Performance after corrections varies based on economic conditions, with stronger rebounds outside of recessions. In February, consumer price index slowed to 2.8%, while inflation moderated to 3.1%, the lowest levels in years. Housing inflation is slowing, and airfares and pump prices are also declining. Data does not yet reflect the impact of tariffs.
